About the Design
‘Cliff’ is based on the many habitats, ecosystems and wildlife supported by the cliffs of Flamborough and Bempton. Not only do the cliffs support the many birds that live there, but also many seaweeds, corals, fish and marine creatures that survive at the bottom of them. The meadows at the top also support many wildflowers and insects such as butterflies.
About the Artist
Kathleen is a designer, maker and artist who works in a range of materials to make objects for public commissions. She uses mainly metal, 3D printing and painting in her work, which is often intricate and detailed and has a connection to nature and the environment. Kathleen has also painted many sculptures for trails around the UK, which more often than not depict wildlife and nature.
